Toy Story 3 (also known as Toy Story 3: The Video Game) is a platform game developed by Avalanche Software and published by Disney Interactive Studios. It is loosely based on the 2010 film of the same name. It was released in June 2010 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, Microsoft Windows, and Mac OS X. A Nintendo DS version was developed by n-Space, while Disney Mobile Studios developed and published an iOS game based on the film. Another version was developed by Asobo Studio and released for PlayStation 2 and PlayStation Portable.

By February 2008, Disney and Pixar had rejected THQ's pitch to develop the film's video game adaptation, choosing instead to have it developed by Disney's Avalanche Software. A 10-person team from Pixar aided Avalanche in developing the game. Most of the voice cast from the film reprised their characters for the game. Toy Story 3 includes a story mode that loosely recreates the film's events, and the Toy Box mode, consisting of a western town that can be freely roamed and customized by the player. The game was well received by critics, particularly for its Toy Box mode. The game was a top-seller in the UK.

Plot (story mode)[]

The game closely follows the plot of Toy Story 3, with some differences to the story.

The Train[]

Level 1 starts with a train full of orphans has been highjacked by the infamous Evil Dr. Porkchop, a made-up character by Andy which is played by Hamm. Woody sees the event happening over nearby on top of a cliff, Woody hops onto his trusty horse Bullseye. Right when he's about to chase after the train Dr. Porkchop reveals himself to Woody and starts firing plasma balls towards Woody. Woody evades the plasma attacks by Dr. Porkchops and rides Bullseye racing towards the train, he manages to get on the train after nearly falling off. Dr. Porkchop's robot saucers are destroying parts of the train and the orphans have been tied up around the train by his henchman the Little Green Aliens. After Woody saves the Orphans and defeated the Little Green Aliens he heads towards the front of the train and saves the day by hitting Dr. Porkchop's plasma cannon. This causes it to explode and with Dr. Porkchop claiming he will be back before flying away.

Between Levels: Cutscene 1:[]

A cutscene happens between the levels which showing Ham and the rest of the gang at Bonnie's House talking about a board game he made telling the story of how they got there at Bonnie's House (just telling the plot of Toy Story 3). The only toys not there were Mr. Potato Head and Mrs. Potato Head (which were excluded from the game for some reason) and Buzz Lightyear, Woody and Jessie which come later. He shows off the board while Rex accidently destroys part of the map, Mr. Pricklepants points to the country buildings on the top right of the board, Hamm responds with telling them about Woody's Round Up where you become your own sheriff and rule the wild west. Everyone wants to go there, Hamm eventually agrees but only if a big dinosaur promises not to break it.

Andy's House[]

Level 2 starts with the toys consisting of Buzz Lightyear, Woody and Jessie trying to reach the phone on top of Andy's shelf so that they could call him and make his look for it and find it with them within his toy box so he would play with them one more time. It turns out the toys sent Rex into the basement to get the cordless phone so they could call Andy but after a while of radio silence the toys get the cord phone from Andy's room before heading towards the basement through the laundry chute. They get the cordless phone from the basement with the help of the Green Army Men by finding launching them trapped or lost around the room up high and launch them towards the phone, where they are commanded to take it towards Andy's room once four of them land there. They later find Rex

PS3 exclusive[]

If you had the PS3 version of the game you could play as Zurg and have to buy his pod from Al's Toy Barn, Zurg has his nerf gun that can shoot the Pixar Ball and has his own car with a unique paint job that can shoot the Pixar Balls with the exact same model of his nerf gun on its hood. Zurg can't jump and has four quest to complete which are minigames that can be completed repeatedly. After you buy his pod from Al's Toy Barn a cutscene will happen of Zurg laughing then hugging Woody and Buzz Lightyear.

Multiplayer differences[]

On Level 1 if you play multiplayer Player 1 would play as Woody and ride Bullseye while Player 2 plays as Jessie and ride the female version of Bullseye named Daisy, there is no option to play as Buzz Lightyear in this level.

On Level 3 if you play multiplayer there would be two versions of Buzz Lightyear with Player 1 glowing slightly blue while Player 2 glows slightly neon green.

On Level 5 if you play multiplayer there would be two versions of Woody with like in Level 3 Player 1 would glowing slightly blue while Player 2 glows slightly neon green. Bonnie makes a comment on this saying "the Witch split you in half so now theirs two of you".
